Having lost a battle with my aging Epson printer I am changing my way of photographing subjects and using them on future post cards! The printer no longer likes to print the true color of my photos so I plan to sneak up on its “blind side”! I will be photographing in black and white then then using Adobe Shop Elements give a black & white antique and other looks such as this sample of “pinhole” finish! Think Life magazine ala 1930’s! When you’re handed a lemon make lemonade! :-)                 This mural was designed by students at Asbell Elementary School during spring 2016 working With Art NWA.  Students designed the mural from start to finish. They chose the theme of “Dreams and Preservice” using a colorful pastel palette and artwork taken from actual drawings! Many thanks to the title sponsor “The Stephen Colbert Americone Dream Fund that made this mural possible!  Great work kiddos! Have a happ

This from Ken & Sandra Posten who retired near Ringgold GA. ………….. The life in the area is laid back and considered as one of the best cities to retire. Chattanooga has won a couple of contests the past couple of years as the best city to live. They have many young couples moving in because there are so many outdoor activities. The Smokies are a couple of hours away, plenty of hiking and kayaking/canoeing. In fact, the white water kayaking site is down the road. Now the rapids are using for rafting they send a slew down the Ocoee River . It has turned into quite an industry. Chattanooga has tried to go up tech. They have their own internet supplier which offers the 4 th  best rated service in the US. It’s so good surrounding cities sued to get their service and won. Don’t hear about a company being sued to get their service. Our daughter is about to sue Comcast to get out of a contract that is justified according to their requirements. This area played a huge role i

Judy Cooper is my lovely niece who is retired in Nacogdoches TX with husband Jerry and my Big Sis Lois! She says: Those of us in Nacogdoches will most likely stay here. Nacogdoches is interesting because it's the oldest town in Texas. Part of the El Camino Real is right here. When people came from the east to west this is the route they traveled as they migrated. The university here is Stephen F. Austin. The population is 30,000-40,000.  It's pretty much rural around here. Reminds me of North Carolina - lots of tall trees. Many are pine, but there's many varieties. The university has a great forestry department. We live in town, but Steve and Anna live outside of town with their families. Since it's a small town, what we need is pretty much available here. If bigger stores are needed, Tyler or Lufkin are larger. There's an old cemetery here where many of the settlers are buried, as well as some signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence.  In the e

Outdoor Mural at U.S. Pizza Dickson Street—Fayetteville AR This outdoor mural is about thirty foot long and one story high on the side of an old brick building on Dickson Street. It faces the parking lot 0f U.S, Pizza. It consists of three principal views like this one that celebrates the contribution women have made in both World War I & II. It puts me in mind of Norman Rockwell’s “Rosie the Riveter” fame. While millions of men volunteered or were drafted to the colors many of the positions in the quickly growing defense industries were filled by women who worked at hard and exhausting jobs to provide the arms and supplies to there husbands, boyfriends, sons & not a few daughters to “save the world for Democracy” and then a t the end of each day returned home to do the hours of work to keep the “home fires burning.” To the ladies I say YEA!
