Farmers Market on the Fayetteville AR Town Square

Started in 1973 the Fayetteville Farmers Market on the town square is indeed a great farmers market and it is much more. It is a weekly social event that gathers family's, singles, and groups from all over northwest Arkansas. These folks are often accompanied by the family pooches who prance along happily, meeting and greeting other of their canine friends and making new friends! It is a great way to spend a morning meeting and greeting favorite farmers and crafts persons, selecting good things for the home side evening meal at home!
The market began offering the finest in fresh locally produced vegetables, fruits, meats, flowers, baked goods, honey, eggs, jams, crafts, and fine art from the four-county area. in 1973.
The lovely town square and the farmers market join to make a Saturday morning visit a feast for the eyes and soul. You and your family, and friends should not miss wonderful weekly event!

                John Latta, an early pioneer in what was to become Washington County Arkansas. Leaving his large family in Tennessee he joined a group of explorers in the early 1830’s and traveled via the Tennessee, Ohio, Mississippi and Arkansas rivers to reach western Arkansas. Then an arduous trip on horse and foot he arrived and claimed land near what is now Evansville on the border between Northwest Arkansas and Oklahoma. Colorful Mural at Walker Park - Fayetteville AR

            This outdoor mural portrays the life, times and events of south Fayetteville Arkansas dating back to the early 1800’s.  The mural was painted on three sides of the concrete handball court at Walker Park.         The project was undertaken by the City of Fayetteville and Joann Kaminsky, an accomplished local artist took the lead and working with others created the design and drew the outlines of the figures shown on this finished work. Then other volunteers worked at finishing the three sided work by adding the color. Many volunteer hours were required to accomplish the task.
